NBAD Appoints Head of Ladies Private Banking

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, has appointed Dr. Mariah Khan as the Head of Private Banking’s Velvet Program, a special NBAD private banking service developed exclusively for high net worth women.

In her new role, Dr. Khan would support NBAD’s expansion strategy for private banking and the Bank’s commitment to be a one stop provider for women’s wealth management requirements.  In addition to fulfilling her existing role as a Senior Private Banker, Dr. Khan will work on enhancing private banking visibility and developing the business related to women’s private banking across the region.

In NBAD since 2008, Dr. Khan has more than 14 years of experience in the wealth management industry gained from working with banks and global financial institutions in the UAE, assisting regional and multi-national corporates and individuals in managing their global wealth.

Velvet is a unique NBAD service, exclusively for ladies, which combines highly personalized global private banking with commercial banking services. It aims to empower women with financial knowledge and investment tools. Significantly, it offers onshore and offshore banking services including savings accounts, investment management solutions, Swiss private banking services and inheritance planning through trust advisory services. Moreover, Velvet clients will have highly qualified ladies as their private advisors, who aim to bring NBAD’s services to their doorstep.

“Dr. Khan brings with her key attributes and experience and is a valuable asset to NBAD. We have the utmost confidence that she will take NBAD Private Banking for women to a new level,” said Ashraf Mazahreh, the Head of NBAD Private Banking, UAE.

NBAD is committed to facilitating women’s empowerment and this pledge influences product development, product responsibility, and financial inclusion through providing access to financial services. The Bank also considers job creation, employment, learning and development as key enablers of women.

“NBAD has a great reputation for its innovative products and services,” said Dr. Khan. “My team and I look forward to intensively interacting with women in the region and beyond, ensuring that their wealth management needs are correctly gauged and met. Our aim is to promote NBAD through Velvet, as the best financial solution for high net worth women and to allow them full access to NBAD products and services in an environment they feel comfortable.”

Dr. Khan added: “I am excited about the fact that Velvet is being offered by NBAD, a name that unequivocally inspires confidence, security and supremacy, particularly in the region. We are driven by the requirements of our clients and deal with them in a discreet, efficient and effective manner. This, in any event, summarizes NBAD private banking philosophy.”

NBAD’s Private Banking offers high net worth individuals (HNWI) superior wealth management services. NBAD also offers offshore private banking services through its wholly-owned subsidiary NBAD Private Bank (Suisse), based in Geneva. In addition, NBAD offers trust services through another wholly-owned subsidiary NBAD Trust Company, which is based in Jersey, UK. NBAD is also the first and only licensed custody UAE bank and its Asset Management Group as one of the largest asset managers in the region.
